Bryan Reynolds (Ph.D. Harvard University) is Professor and Chancellor’s Fellow in Theater and Performance at the University of California, Irvine. He is the founding member of the California-based Transversal Theater Company, which tours its productions nationally and internationally. As a director and playwright he produced numerous plays, which include It’s a Mystery, Gotta Like ‘Em, Unbuckled, Woof, Daddy, Railroad, Blue Shade, and Lumping in Fargo. His newest play, Eve’s Rapture, will open at the Hayworth Theatre in Los Angeles on May 22, 2009.
Reynolds is the author of Transversal Enterprises in the Drama of Shakespeare and his Contemporaries: Fugitive Explorations (2006), Performing Transversally: Reimagining Shakespeare and the Critical Future (2003), Becoming Criminal: Transversal Performance and Cultural Dissidence in Early Modern England (2002), co-editor of Rematerializing Shakespeare: Authority and Representation on the Early Modern English Stage (2005), and co-editor of Shakespeare Without Class: Misappropriations of Cultural Capital (2000). Reynolds is also co-General Editor of a book series in theater and performance studies, Performance Interventions, from Palgrave Macmillan. His next book, Transversal Subjects: From Montaigne to Deleuze after Derrida, will be published in December 2008.
