Projects / Grenzen aan de Verbeelding?

Grenzen aan de Verbeelding? is an interdisciplinary project-in-progress about the (un)imaginable, (self)censorship, cultural perspective, blind spots, sensitivities, transgression, and the theatre as a space of reflection between media. How to imagine the unimaginable? How to represent the unrepresentable? Why would one desire any of this in a theatrical production, and to what ends? What constitutes the limits of what we can imagine, represent or show? What is involved in showing this, and who is entitled to do so?

This project started with a series of meetings at the Amsterdam Theatre School during Maaike Bleeker’s artist-in-residency (2006-2007). An initial public event took place during the Theatre Festival Tf of 2007, when Hotel Modern provided a starting point for discussion between theatre makers, critics and researchers.
