Wil Hildebrand
Wil Hildebrand has been Assistant Professor in Theatre Studies at Utrecht University since 1974. He has taught on a wide range of subjects, including the history of the theatre, semiotics of theatre, abstract theatre, theatre analysis, contemporary British and Dutch theatre, and community theatre. In 1999 he finished his PhD dissertation on the theory of theatrical interaction. His current research focuses on defining artistic criteria for performances of community theatre.
Feeling there is a great value in maintaining contact with his graduates, Wil has often sat on the board of theatre companies or cultural organisations in which they operated. His knowledge of Dutch theatre practice has made him a member of the jury for the National Awards in Dutch theatre acting. He is also a member of the council of the Faculty of Humanities and of the University Council of Utrecht University.
