Liesbeth Groot Nibbelink
Liesbeth Groot Nibbelink is Lecturer and PhD Researcher in Theatre Studies. In her PhD project she investigates dynamic performer/spectator relationships and interfaces, focusing on experiential theatre, walking performances and ambulant installations. Drawing from Gilles Deleuze's nomadology, she develops the concept of 'nomadic theatre' to explore its potential for researching dynamic constellations of performers, spectators and spaces. Inserted in this constellation, nomadic theatre investigates the quality of encounters; the changing role of the spectator; and the potentialities of lived space in contemporary performance. Nomadic theatre captures movement and mobility while it continues to be a processual concept in itself.
Liesbeth teaches and coordinates the BA modules Theory and Analysis of Theatre and Dance; Theatre Repertoire; Theatre- and Media Education; Theatre in Context; she is tutor of both BA and MA students. In 2011-2012 she also teaches Dramaturgy at the Theatre Faculty of the Utrecht School of the Arts. Her areas of interest include performance and the public space, the dramaturgy of site-specific theatre and location-based technology, intermediality and animation scenography.
Liesbeth graduated from Theatre Studies at Utrecht University in 1998. Before enrolling in Theatre Studies, she spent two years at a visual arts academy. After her studies she worked for several years as a dramaturge, assistant-director and dramaturgy teacher.
