Isis Germano is a junior teacher at Utrecht University. She teaches in the BA program Media and Culture Studies, in the minor Brains and Bodies and the minor Creative Cities, and the Practicum Theater en Dans. Isis graduated cum laude from the master’s program in Theatre Studies at Utrecht University in 2013. Her thesis “Between Stage, Brain and Body: Using Cognitive Science to Flesh Out the Embodied Act of Looking” was awarded first prize for the best academic thesis in the humanities. She is currently preparing a PhD research project about cognitive approaches to spectatorship. Originally trained as a theatre director, she has been active as a theatre practitioner since 2006, she teaches drama and creative writing, and she has worked as a dramaturge for several theatre groups.
